{Fantastic Spring Day}

My day started off wonderfully! My oh so sweet husband cooked me a fantastic breakfast! I think Hubby was a little annoyed with me in the kitchen with my camera, but he was very understanding. I suppose it might be slightly irritating having someone tell you, "hold on, don't touch that, I want to take a picture", while your trying not to burn anything.

 Later that day my cows, which have been at a neighbors ranch, were brought home! Oh, how I love my cows. I thought about naming them when we first got them, even came up with a few. But I just call them, Mama & Baby. But baby isn't a baby anymore, she is due to calve anytime now. :)
I love their new purple tags, too!

Then to finish off the day the snow started falling, and it hasn't stopped yet. God has been listening to our prayers for much needed moisture.

Happy Friday!

{Been Busy}

So about a year and eight months ago my husband was in a bad accident at work. I have been extremely busy and have been unable to post anything. I am trying to get back into this but am still struggling to find the time. Before his accident I was a stay-at-home mom and now I work outside of the home. Hopefully I will find more time to post.

Happy Friday!

{The First Year}

We have now owed our little homestead for a year, so I thought I would recap on our first year in our new home.

When we first moved in my husband decided it would be a great idea to buy over one hundred chickens, for eggs and meat...

We pretty much spent every weekend over the summer butchering chickens. I didn't have much of a stomach for it, but I will say store bought chicken can not compare to our home raised chicken. I also will NEVER eat store bought eggs again!

Just look at how beautiful those yokes look!

When we bought the house, there was a garden all ready fenced off. We started to clean it up and much to our surprise, produce was already growing!

We filled our garden with many vegetables, that we are still enjoying now. Here are just a few...

Most recently, we added a new family member to our little homestead. We decided to name her Greta. She is the sweetest thing...

...and on March 22, one became two...

We have not named her yet but have some names in mind, possibly Emily, AnnaBell, or Stella.

This last year has been kind to us and I can't wait to see what this next year has to offer...

{Home Sweet Home}

My husband and I just recently gave up city life for a little bit of earth in the country. We were house shopping for over three years and while I preferred to live in suburbia, he insisted on the country. When we bought this beautiful home it was a big change for me. I gave up my job to stay home with our girls, ages 4 and 6. We have been here for 9months now and I am still adjusting to country life.

This is our 'new' old house. It was built in 1920, there are two outbuildings, it sits on almost five acres, and is just on the outskirts of a little town. This town features a two room school, k-8th, a post office, a church, and the old school building is used as a community center, community church, and a museum.
We have many plans to fix up this old place, but for now we are just enjoying what this house and town have to offer. One thing's for sure life is alot less stressful out here and I now have time to spend with my kids, read books, and try new things. Life is good!
